Desora was founded by Harvard University graduates and faculty with the simple aim of making cooking enjoyable and extraordinary.

We’re a small Cambridge-based team of dedicated engineers, designers and thinkers that put in considerable hours and are deeply passionate about what we do.

Desora

Frontend Software Engineer

Are you deeply passionate about the technology you build? Are you motivated by developing great products, and love a technical challenge? You’ll be a critical member of our team working to bring innovation to the food we eat and help Desora build and refine React Native IoT mobile applications. You’ll work collaboratively on our small, highly efficient team as a passionate self-starter, and you will have a chance to create serious impact for the company. If you want to be in a fun, growing (barbecue-filled) industry, join us!

YOU HAVE

  • Built mobile apps you’re proud of with full lifecycle experience shipping consumer-grade products
  • Ability transforming design into implementation and optimizing code for scalability
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect front-end clients to backend web services
  • Considerable experience using React Native with Redux.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent with 2+ years of work experience of high-quality, scalable mobile software development
  • Great understanding of version control principles (Git) and issue tracking

YOU WILL

  • Develop and maintain features in consumer facing applications and internal business solutions in an agile environment
  • Investigate and fix issues reported by users and monitor app performance and stability
  • Record implementation efforts in design documents and issue trackers
  • Discuss new features with our content team and help define the best solutions with a focus on user needs and expected timelines
  • Build maintainable, efficient and clean code, and balance that with the urgency of company needs
  • Perform and automate quality assurance tests to ensure robust product releases

PLUSES

  • Proficient in developing native iOS apps
  • Experience with networking protocols like HTTPS, BLE or MQTT
  • Experience with Javascript and mobile testing frameworks like Appium, Jest, etc

Backend Software Engineer

  • Proficiency in Python, Java and/or Javascript
  • Familiarity with building SQL and/or Lucene queries
  • Attentiveness when it comes to security, reliability, and efficiency

Marketing Manager

Are you passionate about tech, food and social media? Can you use your tech-savvy smarts to craft creative ideas and content? Are you excited by the prospect of building a great brand and community? YOU WILL
  • Continue to build and manage our company’s social media profile and presence
  • Create shareable content appropriate for specific networks to spread both our brand and content
  • Run social media campaigns and use quantitative metrics to track their success
  • Create and execute strategy and media plans to reach target KPI’s
  • Research, analyze, and maintain a record of trends, innovations, and stories that affect our target demographic’s response

R&D Food Scientist

Do you have a love of food and cooking and the intellectual rigor to use a methodical approach to improve them? Can you work strategically in multi-disciplinary teams to provide creative product solutions? We’re looking for someone who’s creative yet organized that can run experiments and use dedicated scientific reasoning to invent cooking methods in a fun and collaborative environment.
YOU WILL

  • Craft and implement food science experiments using your own test criteria
  • Use consumer reports and standard tests to determine and improve the performance of cooking appliances
  • Apply the scientific method to cook and design recipes based on product analysis
  • Maintain excellent and detailed technical and consumer documentation
  • Reverse engineer appliances and recipes and use your analysis to invent new product features and cooking methods
  • Deduce physical and chemical properties of various foods

YOU HAVE

  • A B Sc/Masters in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years professional experience demonstrating excellent understand of product development, reverse engineering and food science principles (meat preferred)
  • Tasted and distinguished sensory characteristics of different types of foods
  • A sense of humor, flexible working habits and a team-playing spirit
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail with a great work ethic
  • Ability to think creatively with respect to products, processes and meals
  • A consistent record of successful independent research, effective technical reports and dynamic presentations
  • Experience using LabVIEW, LabQuest, MATLAB for data collection and processing
